Sheila S. Paterson


Sheila joined the COVE team in February of 2016 as Chief Operating Officer. In her role, Sheila builds relationships with industry, researchers, facilitating organizations and governments for the initiation, support, application and commercialization of world-class scientific research.
As COO, Sheila has been instrumental in the development of the Center for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship. Located on the deep-water port of Halifax, Nova Scotia, COVE is a collaborative space where ocean technology companies can start, grow, and prosper.

Dr. Jean-François Bousquet


Jean-François Bousquet joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Dalhousie in July 2013.  He is a graduate of École Polytechnique de Montréal where he completed his BEng in Electrical Engineering in 2001. He also completed his MSc and PhD degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Calgary in 2007 and 2011 respectively, where he focused on the implementation of low-power integrated circuits applied to wireless communication.

Dr. Vincent Sieben


Dr. Vincent Sieben is an Associate Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at Dalhousie University, where he holds the Sexton Research Chair in Underwater Sensing. He received his doctorate from the University of Alberta in 2009 in micro-electromechanical systems and nano systems. He has spent 15-years designing and creating lab-on-chip sensors in both industry and academia. He has actively published in the areas of micro fabrication, lab-on-a-chip, optics, and in situ sensors for environmental monitoring.

Dr. Daniel Hasselman


Mr. Daniel J. Hasselman, also known as Dan, serves as President of APWireless Infrastructure Partners, LLC. He has more than 13 years of experience as an executive in the real estate and wireless infrastructure industries. He fulfilled the role of Managing Director at WIP. He also co-founded and owned Vertical Capital Group, which originated investments in telecommunications infrastructure assets on behalf of RFS Capital.

Dr. Jeremy J. Dillon


Jeremy has 20 years of experience in research and development with a strong background in signal processing and mathematics. As an original member of Kraken’s Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) team, he developed the signal processing algorithms for the AquaPix® SAS imaging and bathymetry software. Previously Jeremy was a control systems engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, a flight test engineer at the NRC Flight Research Laboratory, and a research officer in guidance, navigation, and control at NRC. He has a PhD in Physics and Physical Oceanography from Memorial University of Newfoundland, an MSc in Mathematics from Carleton University, an MSc in Aeronautics from Caltech, and a BEng in Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University.
